The history of Mershak peninsula has been washed in blood of long conflict between Umria and Sultanate of Eran for the past fifty years. The conflict ended by a truce after significant intervention from neighboring countries (especially Micua) and United Nations ten years ago.
From the ashes and chaos of the war, the new state - San Marco – emerged, and for the past fifty years it became an eye sore mainly for Sultanate of Eram.
Bravery of San Marco
The people of San Marco have been living in Northern Mershak for many centuries, they are offsprings of Christian colonists that settled here around the 10th century. They were trying to gain their independence mainly on Sultanate of Eram for several centuries. Finally, their bravery and sacrifice while defending their home land during the Eram-Umria conflict, won them independence and recognition by most of the worlds governments.
The birth of San Marco Republic had been closely supported by Minacua and its allies in order to strengthen the Minacuan influence in the Mershak. Official establishment of the state was done after the battle of San Alfonso Monastery, where Erams army (S.E.L.A.) suffered heavy losses and was repelled back to Eram mainly because of brave resistance of San Marcos people who had fought for their independence. Territory gained after the battle became the new border between San Marco and Eram.
The Republic of San Marco was established partly from the territory that belonged to Umria, and part of the northern territory that belonged to Sultanate of Eram after the official end of war between Eran and Umria. San Marco is a southern neighbor of Minacua.
